Big Sigh on Sunday Evening

Little Man just had a pretty major seizure. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but it is the biggest one he has had in a very long time. He is asleep again, which actually is a bad thing in a way. Normally when he wakes up at night, he is pretty tough to get back to sleep. For him to go right back to sleep is most likely the postictal part of a seizure. Both Bald Man and I feel like someone just slapped us. We are both just praying this is just an anomaly and not a harbinger of more brain storms.

I forgot I have a bunch of new readers. So for their edification.
Little Man has had seizures for years. He is on 4 different medications for his seizures. He also has a Vagal Nerve Stimulator to help control his seizures.(Sorry, you are going to have to ask Dr. Google if you want more info about it. I am just too tired right now to do any links, sorry) Since the placement of his feeding tube in Jan, we have only had a couple of nights where he had seizures, and they were the small ones. It has been a LONG time since he had a big one. There really isn't anything to do about it, because it stopped. It sounds weird, because if your kid suddenly had a seizure like our boy did tonight, you would be rushing off to the hospital. But, it stopped and we always keep an eye on him at night because of his seizures, so that won't change. Instead, we will just pray it is a one time thing.

Scary!! I hope it is just an anomaly, too! Isn't it amazing how this stuff always happens at night, on the weekend, when the only option is the dreaded emergency room? I hope you guys get through the night without any further incidence!

Oh cr@p, Jo! I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that this will be an isolated event for Little Man. We'll say an extra prayer for all of you tonight.

That is VERY scary. I hope that this isn't the beginning fo something either.
This is when you ask the doctors...but he's ON medication and he HAS the stimulator....this is supposed to STOP the seizures...isn't it the whole reason we do it all.

Sending lot of hope your way.
