Can You Settle An Argument?

This is a weird question for an LDS couple to be asking, but at the same time, I am sure you will understand why we don't already know the answer to the question and why we have no why of chasing down the answer. So I turn to you, my wise, worldly and bloggy friends.
When a "lady" pole dances professionally, does she or does she not keep on some clothes? Bald Man said no, he thinks they do it naked. I say they do have some clothes on, cause, EWWW! and OUCH!
Our only frame of reference is CSI:Vegas, but the "ladies" in the show are all fairly covered. Bald Man says they can't show someone totally naked on TV and I say it is cause, well they wear something, no matter what.
So, which is it? Clothes, (I am using the term loosely) or not? Help a nice Mormon couple out here!

It depends on the place. In Utah, if you serve alcohol, they have to wear g-strings and pasties. No alcohol, it can be completely nude.

Don't ask me how I know this. Thanks. Clearly, my neighbors are the least of my problems.

Here wher I live in SC, there are plenty of what I call "titty bars" - hope that didn't offend you. I have only been to one, just HAD to know what all the woohoo was about. But at this particular location they wear panties. Some will wear bra tops and some will wear negligee tops and some others just go without tops at all. But I have never seen any without at least panties.
I agree with you, that would be sooooo Ewwww!

And I bet you just knew I would answer this question didn't you? lol!!

Hmm, I am the first to comment. And I am not Mormon so maybe that explains why... Usually the unders stay on unless it is a full-nude place. But most places are not. Most places keep the unders on. I have investigated this topic thoroughly as I am fascinated as to why men do the things they do...so I ask lots of in depth questions :)

I do not know this from personal experience, but in the US different states have different regulations especially on whether or not n1pples can be visible. Apparently the law where I live is that they have to be covered but they can be covered by see-through pasties, which defeats the purpose of the law and is also gross. And there are also sometimes restrictions based on whether alcohol is served. But I'm pretty sure there are places where there are no clothes at all. I imagine Utah's restrictions would be on the stricter end, but maybe I'd be surprised.

And as an aside, my dad grew up in a town on the border with Canada, where apparently restrictions are pretty lax, and people there called exotic dancing "Canadian ballet" because there were so many billboards etc. advertising "gentlemen's clubs."

At least a thong, right?

i think there are "dance clubs" that go both ways. some clubs have totally nude dancers and some have thonged dancers.

i'm sure i could do some research on the strip, but i'm not sure i want to. (no, in fact i AM sure i DON'T want to)

I'm a lady! *snicker*

It varies by jurisdiction. Some clubs are all-nude; some towns don't allow alcohol and nudity in the same place (ergo, NEXT to nothing is worn). I'd say there are more of the former than the latter, though.

I think, though again this is purely based on TV reference, though I think I remember seeing a documentary about it that they do wear some clothes, though often only on the bottom half!

Taking up pole dancing are we ? :)
You can do it with or without any clothing on.
In Utah, you can only do it with clothing on and by clothing I mean hardly any clothing at all :)

I think it depends on what kind of joint you are in. Some of them are more modest--in that the girls wear clothing and then there are the ones that are HARD CORE and the chicks are nudey booty!

No clue on this one as all I know is from CSI also. I would guess--clothes though... you know, for the ouch and ewww reasons.

In California full nudity = no booze. tops off = booze. But I'm not sure how this all translates to pole dancing (double ewww if done full nude...gag, gag, gag) if full nude.

I don't think it has changed yet although every now and then I see a motion to change it.

Clearly, I can never be a pole dancer. That or I'd have the OCD following, because I SO would be wiping down the pole with anti-bacterial wipes before I took the stage.

To approach this from a different perspective, let me ask you this: if you're already naked, what do you have left that can make someone want to buy a private dance?

Even in clubs that are allowed to offer full nudity, most dancers will go topless but keep a g-string on until they do a couch dance.

Furthermore, I don't know about the rest of you, but in my area the no-alcohol/full-nudity clubs are usually seen as much trashier than the yes-alcohol/no-nudity ones.

No comment on the shake joint thread, but ...

Hello again Jo,

I am glad we refound each other's blogs too and glad to see that things seem to be going well for you.

Yes, we up and moved to Africa. We thought 'what an opportunity, how can we say no?' then we got here and realized how simple that little word is, would have been really easy, no, no and no. But please come on over and peruse our blog when ever you can, we plan on doing the same at yours.

Ditto to what Kristina said! Either she has taken the same law classes as I OR her and I have the same issues in life. :)

It can be both - nude, partly clothed or in a plaid school girl outfit like that smutty Brittany Spears video.

If you're thinking of trying it out, Carmen Electra has a great video that teaches you to pole dance all from the comfort of your own home. Then the sky's the limit as long as you have the pole (or a chair).

JK...ha..ha....but, no, seriously, Carmen Electra really does have a video :0)

What in the world line of conversation lead up to this argument? I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that.

Okay...here's the deal.
I am a woman, yes I go to strip clubs. In Utah alcohol = g-string no alcohol = fully nude.

I only went to a nude club once and I was a little freaked out.

Before I explain you should know that the dancer does a set which is two songs long. On the first song, she is in a bikini...during the second song, she goes naked.

So, I noticed that during the first song, the girls got on the pole, and when they were naked, they would get on the floor and get down and dirty.

Also, most of the girls carry a rag in their tips purse. If they plan to really get on the pole, they usually wipe it off first.

Anyway...that's just sick little me telling you ladies what I know.

For the record, most strippers are beautiful people inside and out. Most that I know are CNA's who just love to lead a double life. They have kids, husbands, homes, and a totally separate responsible life.
