Sigh

Little Man has an abscess on his back. He got a scrape, oh probably a week ago and I didn't think a thing about it. But 3 days ago, it started to get red around the edges, so I started putting antibiotic cream on it. This morning, it looked like it was getting ugly, abscess or boil like. I called and thank goodness his doc had an appt open this afternoon. (I LOVE picking up my son early from school, and canceling his afterschool program, it rocks my days!) The doctor lanced* it today and put him on antibiotics. Part of my fear is his history of scary, fast, ugly skin infections. While this isn't one of those fast moving infections he has had in the past, it makes hubs and I nervous. We are also nervous because he is on a sulfa antibiotic and while he hasn't ever reacted to sulfa drugs before, the possibility lies before us, like quicksand, you don't really want to try and walk on it. And guess what? He has another doctor's appt on Thursday! I can hardly wait. Photobucket

*lanced, sounds like a simple thing, right? Wrong! There was screaming, holding down, threats on both our parts. Little Man threatened to bite me, I threatened to not take him to McDonalds, it was UGLY, but we both survived.

Ouch! I do not envy you having to go back again.

You have got to tell me how to do the banging smiley. I showed J how to do the heart today and she is badgering me to show her something else new. That's the only trick I know so I could use some help here.

I don't think lancing is ever going to be pleasant.

I am so glad that everyone survived! I hope that things will run smoothly from here on out!

...and this whole time I thought getting "lanced" was some gorgeous Norwegian dude named Lance would come in and give me a back massage.

So sorry your day had to go on this way. Hope the antibiotics help and kick the infection without any further buggies.

Oh, the poor little guy!

Here's to a speedy recovery for him.

No, lanced does not sound like a simple thing. When I read that I wondered how he did. It sounds like you pulled out the big guns, threatening no McDonald's.

And you called me mean ;0)

That smiley made my day.

Good night nurse.
I can't believe the amount of stuff that the two of you have to go through.

Glad you both survived. Crossing my fingers that there is no infection.
(Sorry, can't help it, but I'm giggling at Torina's definition of "lanced")
Hope Little Man does well at Thursday's appointment. ☺

Sure hope everything turns out for the better. Good luck with your appointment.

Lancing is terrible thing. Bless his heart.

Yikes! Just the word "lancing" alone sends shivers down my spine. I was glad to read that both you and Little Man survived said appointment. Hopefully, McDonald's made everything better, as it always does in my life.

I'll be thinking about you on Thursday!
