Miscellaneous

Yes it is true. As my friend Amber has mentioned, someone is stealing my photos. I am sure you probably thought it was one of my really great photos. But no, it is this one:

Photobucket

And not once, but hundreds of times. Why? That particular picture is of my very pale hand. I struggle with a pretty severe anemia, and I took that picture for a Pale Face post when I was particularly pale. I got a javascript to disable right clicks, but Amber told me it wasn't working. If any of you feel like you would like to experiment, right click on my page and then tell me what happens. I will keep working on it. I still think it is weird, I wish I knew WHAT that picture is being used for. And don't worry, I will still share just about anything on my blog, it wasn't any of my commenter's,so just ask me, it is mostly German visitors??? What is up with that???

And onto the next piece of misc. I love a good deal. I bet you love a good deal too. Little Man loves to watch movies. We love to have him watch movies. They make him quiet and non destructive. Movies are a very good thing. Movies are pretty expensive at about 20$ a pop.
Do you have one of these in your neighborhood?

If you are not familiar with this Red thing of beauty, it is called a Redbox.
You can rent movies for ONE dollar a night. You can also get a coupon code and rent them for free once a week. That alone is pretty sweet. Even sweeter?? They sell movies. USED movies, for SEVEN bucks a pop! Now that, even for the mathematically challenged, is a good deal! The Redboxes in Utah are at the McDonalds and the Walmarts. The Walmart Redboxes NEVER sell used movies, don't try. Competition I suppose. Who would spend 20 dollars if they could spend 7? But the other locations are sweet. I think I rather like the whole hit miss thing of them. You never know what movies will be available at which box, so you kind of want to stop at every one you see. Currently I am looking for Igor and ScoobyDoo for the boy. The joy is in the hunt. Click on the link, see you if you have used movies near you! And no, this isn't a paid review. It is my love of a good deal! Although, if Redbox would like to pay me... I could get down with that!

Yeah I could right click and save it to my computer.

Kristina P. said...

Where are they posting these pictures.

Me (aka Danielle) said...

When I right click I get a message..that doesn't allow me to save. However..I discovered that our right click disables don't always work on firefox or mozilla users (I'm still trying to find a fix for that).

Inquiring minds want to know..how do you know they took the picture? What super secret spy-ware are you using to detect that? You must share your secrets!

Jillybean said...

I could right click and save the photo.

I would also like to know how you know they took the picture.

amelia said...

Yeah, how did you know they took it?

I use Flickr. That way they at least can't expand them to a huge size.

amelia said...

Oh, p.s., you know you can get free Redbox codes on Monday? And most grocery stores have these now too.

Lana@The Kids Did WHAT?! said...

Not to sound like a parrot, but... I can save the pic through right clicking, and I too am curious as to how you know! No offense, as your hand the most beautiful pale hand ever..., but what the heck are they doing with a pic of your HAND?! Lol!!

Amber said...

Oh- I have firefox- that may be the issue. I also LOVE redbox. Which reminds me- I still have your movie!

Coach B. said...

I don't know Jo...those are some pretty sexy hands! I would totally steal them had you not disabled my "right click" :)

I think you should have a contest on your blog to gather theories as to what that picture was used for!

Lisa said...

Me too!
Wish we had redboxes here.

owlfan said...

I can right click and save - I'm using Safari, if it helps to know that.

Debz said...

I tried to right click and got a message saying to ask permission first. Very odd picture for someone to want though. Very odd.

We have a Redbox too, but I belong to Netflix.

Jillene said...

I love the redbox!! We frequent it often.

Sorry about the picture stealer!! What a bummer!!

Sarah said...

I can save it, too; it looks like the code doesn't work in Firefox?

Where did they use the photo of your hand?! Are they saving it to their own computer, or using you as a host?

That's crazy. Have you experimented with watermarking?

Sarah said...

Here's an article about watermarking! Enjoy!

I know you probably don't want to mark up your pretty mountain pics, but maybe a small watermark in a corner would do?

K J and the kids said...

I can save it.

How do you know someone stole the picture ?

Bobie said...

I love red box. Sorry about the pics. It is kind of funny though. What are they using it for???

rychelle said...

i wasn't able to right click and save.

you must have fixed it.

how weird that someone was doing that.

Cajoh said...

I can right click, no problem.

I have seen that sort of warning script on other people's blogs. If you like, I can figure out who has it and compare yours with theirs.

I would think they would get your great mountain Monday photos, but your hand… go figure.

Jessica G. said...

I can still copy your picture! (I use Firefox.)

And I have wanted to give in to the temptations of the glamorous RedBox...

Just SO said...

I can right click.
That is so bizarre that that is the picture they are stealing. And I too am of the inquiring mind of how you know they took it.

And I never knew that about RedBox! Very cool.

3 Bay B Chicks said...

I have good news! I right clicked and I received the message that I need to ask for your permission first. Mission accomplished.

I have never heard of redboxes before. Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely be on high alert for them going forward.

PS: Your comment about knowing what my son had up his nose had me in stiches, Jo. You and I could very well be soul mates. :)

That is such an odd picture to steal when you have other fabulous pictures. And I love Redbox!! Did you know that you can reserve the movie that you want online at the box you want and it will be there waiting for you?! I don't know if it works for buying, but it does for renting.

Lobbie said...

Jo-
I can copy and/or save your photo. I'm trying to find a reason right now to paste it hundreds of times but I'm rather short on creativity at the moment.

Oh, and hubby and I tried Redbox once, but we're too lazy. We do Netflix so the farthest we walk is the mailbox.

wendy said...

We don't watch many movies --are usually busy watching all the SPORTS things on tv. BUT redbox is a great great deal.

Christa said...

I did it and it said to ask for permission first. I think you have it fixed.

I have anemia pretty much all the time. I've been feeling particularly bad the pas 6-8 months. What kind of treatments do you do? Do you have any suggestions? Maybe I should just email you.
