I Didn't Know

I didn't know that children with neurological problems are more likely to develop complications from swine flu. If I had known, if someone had told me, I would have gotten him Tamiflu when he first developed a fever. But in my ignorance, thought, he will be fine, kids get the flu all the time, it isn't a big deal. After almost a week in the hospital with the boy, I am not saying that anymore.

USA Today, Swine Flu

Please check out the link, and if you have a family member who has any kind of neurological or muscular problems, please, please, don't wait.

WE ARE HOME! Little Man spent the whole night last night off of O2. He is back to his regular self and I am so happy to see him smiling and laughing again. There isn't any thing sweeter than being home when you have trapped someplace you hate. I have a feeling if I had been at a Sandals Resort for the same amount of time, home wouldn't seem quite as wonderful. But I was't at Sandals, I was at Club Med and I am over the moon to be home. Already got a nap.

I am glad he is ok! I wonder if the same is true for adults. I will be sure to let my mom know because she is suffering from a neurological disorder as of last year.

Glad you are both home. It was nice to share the hospital with someone who made me smile and laugh, even if I wouldn't wish it on you in a million years.

I just found your blog via Torina's.

YEAH!! for your little guy. Bless his lil heart.

We have a foster daughter (long story) who has a seizure disorder (pretty servere).

The hard part w/us is that her base temp is 96/97 - the clinic has told us "we don't even want to know" about a temp until it is 100. Well, for her a 100 temp is HORRIBLE. A 99 temp is pretty bad. I fear we will be ignored...

Thanks for the link. I will definately be checking it out and reading your blog some more.

I'm incredibly glad Little Man is home and finally on the mend. And I'm also glad that you posted the information about how kids with neuro disorders are more likely to have complications from the flu. Because I know this, I will not be leaving the pediatrician's office tomorrow without a prescription for some Tamiflu for my boy. And if I have to hold my breath to get it, so be it.;)

Checking in after a while, and very sorry to hear about all you have been going through. I am glad you and Little Man are home from the hospital. Holy cow, this flu.....Toots, Noodles, Lew and I have all had the seasonal flu shot, and Noodles should be getting a swine flu shot next week as soon sa the pediatrician's office gets it in.

I will pray for your Bright Star to go Home peacefully.
